We're a Tail Wagging Fun Way to Promote Plastic-Free & Sustainable Living!

Welcome to the ALX Dog Walk, the ultimate annual dog walk event/celebration in the District, Maryland, and Virginia area! It’s a tail-wagging fun way to promote plastic-free/sustainable living! **The power of pawsitivity can be a great catalyst for change!**

The Third Annual ALX Dog Walk happens Saturday, April 20, 2024, 7 AM–11 AM in Old Town Alexandria, VA (scroll below for the morning agenda).  More than 500 adorable furry friends and countless humans will come together for a beautiful 2-mile walk down historic Union St, returning along the Waterfront Walk to Oronoco Bay Park for a morning celebration filled with a Sustainability Festival, an ACT for Alexandria Spring2ACTion Nonprofit Village, a fantastic Goodie Bag (with a drawstring backpack, t-shirt, dog bandana, and treats), music, bubbles, kids and dog activities, a judged dog competition with prizes, and lots of belly rubs!

NBC4 Washington’s Meteorologist Chuck Bell will emcee the event, volunteers from The Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail will lead the Walk along with our friends from PawfectlyDeliciousDogTreats.org, The Board of Lady Managers of Inova Hospital will again host a delicious bake sale, and The Greenery Coffee, a sustainable coffeehouse,  will provide a coffee boost IF you bring your reusable cup (no glass/ceramic please).

And, with the help of the USO, we will host up to 100 members of the military!  Thank you to The Zebra Press, NBC4 Washington, and WTOP News for spreading the word about this year’s big event!

So, leash up your pup (or come without a dog!), and join the ALX Dog Walk for a morning of wagging tails and community spirit!

Meet Our Event Emcee!
Chuck Bell, NBC Storm Team4

Chuck Bell has been a NBC StormTeam4 meteorologist with News4 since October 2004. His forecasts can be seen on News4 Today, News4 Midday and on NBC Washington digital property.

When not focusing on the forecast, Chuck is an avid distance runner. He has completed the Marine Corps Marathon three times and hopes to keep running it every year. When the weather is nice, he can often be seen cruising downtown D.C. in his vintage 1962 Corvette. Having owned the car for 15 years, he has still only driven it with the top up a handful of times.

Chuck, his husband, Eric, and their two dogs, Krazy Kyle and Queen Isabella, live in Washington, D.C.

We’re thrilled to have Chuck return as our emcee for the third year in a row!

Our Mission

The ALX Dog Walk, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, organizes an annual dog walk event to build community, have a barking good time, and raise funds that help to spread the word about the importance of plastic-free and sustainable living throughout the District, Maryland, and Virginia region. 100% net funds go towards the launch of education and awareness initiatives year-round, and we also support other nonprofit programs that directly help us to extend our outreach.   Finally, we help to beautify the City of Alexandria, home of the annual dog walk – it’s our way of showing appreciation!  Our 2024 beautification support will go towards helping The Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail with their continuous upkeep and maintenance of the beloved Trail.
