The ALX Dog Walk is a nonprofit on a mission to make sustainable and plastic-free living fun through #FunActivism. How do we do it? Every spring, we bring together pups and people for the biggest, barkiest dog walk and Sustainability Festival in DC, Maryland, and Virginia! With funds raised, we’re able to support year-round educational initiatives that teach our community how to live plastic-free and embrace sustainable lifestyles.
The ALX Dog Walk event returns on April 18, 2026, with an exciting new collaboration and an expanded mission! Next April, we’re partnering with the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) to unite two powerful causes—plastic-free, sustainable living and animal welfare—for one joyful, community-wide celebration of pets and the planet.
OUR ANNUAL DOG WALK & SUSTAINABILITY FESTIVAL
The ALX Dog Walk annual event has witnessed remarkable growth in just a few years. Recognizing the deep bond between dogs and their owners, as well as their shared love for the great outdoors and the environment, in 2022 a dedicated group of volunteers came together to organize the first-ever ALX Dog Walk in the historic Old Town Alexandria, VA. In 2025, we had nearly 2,000 people and dogs join the fun!
The growth of the ALX Dog Walk is a testament to the power of a shared passion and a collective drive to make a difference, one step at a time.
