Get ready for the DMV’s biggest and barkiest annual ALX Dog Walk and Sustainability Festival on Saturday, April 5, 2025, 7 am – 11 am, Oronoco Bay Park, Old Town Alexandria, VA!
We expect nearly 1,000 furry friends to join the fun, and come with or without a dog!
The morning begins with a picturesque 2-mile dog walk down historic Union Street in Old Town Alexandria, looping back along the Potomac River, and culminating at Oronoco Bay Park on the river front with a Sustainability Festival and the Spring2ACTion Nonprofit Village. The Festival and Village showcase organizations highlighting innovative products and services focused on sustainability and area nonprofit leaders, and attendees enjoy a lively celebration, including DJ music, family and dog activities, a dog show, food vendors, free morning coffee (if you bring a cup), and much more.
We’re excited to have Mayor-elect of Alexandria, Alyia Gaskins, as our Honored Speaker, and NBC4’s weather anchor, Chuck Bell, will emcee the event. Other Honored Partners include the nonprofits, Plastic Pollution Coalition and Sustainability Matters.

ALX Dog Walk a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, organizes an annual dog walk event to build community, have a barking good time, and raise funds that help to spread the word about the importance of plastic-free and sustainable living throughout the DMV.
100% of our net funds raised go towards the launch of education and awareness initiatives year-round, and we also sponsor other nonprofit programs that directly help us to extend our outreach. Finally, we like to give back to the City of Alexandria, home of the annual dog walk – it’s our way of showing appreciation.
On Saturday, April 5, 2025, we will unite our furry friends and dog lovers for the biggest and barkiest dog walk in the District, Maryland, and Virginia region!
We’ll hit the scenic 2-mile route down historic Union Street and loop back along the stunning Potomac River to Oronoco Bay Park. There will be surprises along the Walk Route including the Alexandria Singers sharing their talents. Once at the Park located on the Potomac riverfront, walkers will enjoy a Sustainability Festival of 65+ organizations showcasing their plastic-free and eco-friendly goodies. Plus, check out the Spring2ACTion Nonprofit Village where nonprofits will wow you with their plastic-free event tables.
The Park Celebration features a dog show with prizes, photo booth, park scavenger hunt, a doggy obstacle course, a tattoo artist, a DJ spinning paw-some tunes, bubbles floating through the air, kid-friendly activities, a healthy bake sale, free coffee (if you bring a cup!), and more.
Each participant will even snag a drawstring plastic-free goodie bag filled with a t-shirt and dog bandana, and more treats.
