We're a Tail Wagging Fun Way to Promote Plastic-Free & Sustainable Living!

OUR MISSION

The ALX Dog Walk, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, organizes an annual dog walk to build community, have fun, and educate citizens across the District/Virginia/Maryland area about plastic-free and sustainable living.  As a voluntary nonprofit, 100% net funds raised support our mission.

With the funds raised from the annual dog walk event, we provide financial support to other nonprofit programs that directly help us to extend our mission, and we engage in community education and activities from programs for kids to event tables to specialized presentations.  We also help to beautify the City of Alexandria – home of the annual dog walk event – it’s our way of showing appreciation!

We believe that informed communities can drive impactful changes, creating a healthier planet for future generations.  Bark on!

OUR ANNUAL DOG WALK EVENT

The ALX Dog Walk annual event has witnessed remarkable growth in just three years.  Recognizing the deep bond between dogs and their owners, as well as their shared love for the great outdoors and the environment, in 2022 a dedicated group of volunteers came together to organize the first-ever ALX Dog Walk in the historic Old Town Alexandria, VA.

The April 20, 2024 event drew well over 700 dogs and 1,000 people to Old Town Alexandria for the third annual event, celebration, and inaugural Sustainability Festival. The overwhelming response showcased the immense popularity of the event and the community’s support for its cause.

The growth of the ALX Dog Walk is a testament to the power of a shared passion and a collective drive to make a difference. Through its educational initiatives and fundraising effort, the ALX Dog Walk strives to create a brighter future for a plastic-free environment, one step at a time.
