The 2026 Plastic Art Show Competition Submission Registration Closed!
The fifth annual ALX Dog Walk and Sustainability Festival announces its second annual Plastic Art Show Competition on April 18, 2026!
Artists have registered to submit works of art to the competition – the creative twist – all artwork must use primarily plastic materials, such as bottles, caps, cups, bags, buttons, plastic fabrics, etc. Eligible participants must be residents of D.C., MD, or VA and at least 18 years old.
Artwork will be judged and displayed at Oronoco Bay Park in Old Town Alexandria on Saturday, April 18, 2026, and a photo of the artwork must be emailed by March 1, 2026 to: plasticart@alxdogwalk.com. Cash prizes include: First Place: $1,000; Second Place: $500; Third Place: $250. Artists may also host a table to sell additional artwork.

The Power of Art!
Art is a powerful tool for communication and education—and at last year’s ALX Dog Walk on April 5th, we proudly launched our first-ever Plastic Art Show competition with cash prizes: First Place – $1,000; Second Place – $500; and, Third Place – $250. Participants were challenged to design original works of art using primarily reused plastic materials such as bottles, caps, cups, bags, buttons, plastic fabrics, straws, and more.
