The Power of Art!

Art is a powerful tool for communication—and at this year’s ALX Dog Walk on April 5th, we proudly launched the first-ever Plastic Art Show competition with cash prizes:  First Place – $1,000; Second Place – $500; and, Third Place – $250.  Participants were challenged to design original works of art using primarily reused plastic materials such as bottles, caps, cups, bags, buttons, plastic fabrics, straws, and more. To be eligible, artists needed to be residents of D.C., Maryland, or Virginia, and at least 18 years of age.

And the artists truly delivered!  We’re thrilled to share the top winning works of art:

First Place:  Sara Nabulsi, Scraplings

Second Place:  Ashley Ramirez, Viva La Frida

Third Place:  Blue Clarice, Plastic Dress & Necklace
